NewTek is pleased to present a new edition of LightWave 3D, offering a range of new features and functions to enhance workflow for 3D content creators. The LightWave 11.0 edition offers a new Instancing workflow with a variety of distribution options, motion and surfacing controls; hardbody Bullet Dynamics; a new Flocking Controller for applying behaviors to masses of objects; Python scripting with access to the same range of SDK elements as LScript; new interchange tools for ZBrush and Unity; improved volumetrics; FiberFX performance improvements, texturing of fibers, support for the new instancing system, and a new volumetric mode that provides normals and improved support for buffer output; new blending capabilities for all modes of HyperVoxels; a new, more powerful and comprehensive Compositing Buffer Export image filter; enhancements to the Viewport Preview Renderer (VPR) and rendering speed improvements for GI and sampling; and performance enhancements in both Layout and Modeler. Loads of additional performance and stability enhancements make 11.0 a must-have update for any LightWave user.
What's fixed in LightWave 11.0.1 (Service Pack 1)
- Hotkey input sometimes is misdirected to text field.
- Graph editor sidebar inaccessible if the user tries to use 10.0 configs. The user must refresh configs for 11.0.
- Turning off the color space option Color Correct OpenGL will cause VPR to mismatch with the F9/F10 renderer.
For better workflow, the behaviors of the OpenGL views and of VPR will need to be separated; the scope of the
work will put that outside the 11.0.1 cycle.
- The Copy/Paste function is limited to the current active scene session, and does not to carry over between
sessions. However, the functions to ghost the Paste control and prevent and error-trap Paste operation where
it should not work are not fully working. The user will therefore need to exercise care not to try to work across
scene sessions. If you copy in FiberFX, clear scene, then paste in the FiberFX UI, the application will crash.
